Quetica presented during an Interactive Showcase Session at Transportation Research Board’s Innovations in Freight Data Workshop in September 2021. The workshop facilitated conversations between freight data users and decision makers to learn and share the latest applications of traditional and emerging freight data sources, development of value-added features, integration of data sets, and other innovations.
The session topic, “Improving Commodity Flows with Private Sector Bill of Lading Data” focuses on how commodity flow data products can be improved when conflated with private sector data. Planning agencies use commodity data to establish baseline analyses about important commodity movements and trade markets. By integrating commodity flow data and shipping records, critical information such as benchmarks about modal service costs and equipment usages is can improve commodity demand analyses and provide insights about freight investment needs.
