Annual Veterans Pheasant Hunt – Their Story Featured in The Ruthven Zipcode
About 25 years ago, Rick Langer, a veteran, organized a pheasant hunting trip (now an annual occasion) for veterans, all of whom are life-long friends. This annual trip is a time to gather, share memories and enjoy the outdoors with some sport. Over the years, the hunt has evolved and now the group heads to the Ruthven area in Iowa each fall. A few years back, Quetica, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, was hired by Craig Markley with the Iowa Department of Transportation to assist them with freight and propane movement analysis. Craig and his wife Lisa have a home in Ruthven, and thus, the hunting group and the Ruthven area hunting spot became connected. Craig and his wife hosted a meal for the group that first year and now, the couple graciously hosts the weekend dinners for the hungry hunters. It’s a wonderful experience for all involved. Quetica is dedicated to our mission to better the lives of our community, especially veterans and their families.
