ADA Upgrades for Tunnel between Capitol Building to State Office Building (Project 24-15)
The tunnel connecting the Minnesota State Office Building and the Minnesota Capitol Building sees hundreds of pedestrians each day, including legislative members who frequently commute between the two buildings. Portions of the tunnel, built over 40 years ago, did not meet current accessibility standards and posed challenges for many users, particularly those with physical disabilities. This project addressed those issues by modifying the tunnel’s slope to meet ADA-compliant standards and adding a new elevator to connect the Capitol’s basement with the newly renovated Administration Building. Quetica provided structural engineering services.
