SWOT Analysis for the Great Northern Corridor

In 2013, the Great Northern Corridor (GNC) coalition made-up of seven states, multiple Pacific Northwest Ports and the BNSF railroad received an MCOM Grant and selected a consultant to conduct a SWOT Assessment across this multimodal corridor anchored by the BNSF.  The GNC stretches across the Northern Plains and Pacific Northwest between Chicago and Seattle.  Work in Phase 1 included a detailed inventory of modal infrastructure supporting the corridor, an evaluation of the economic impact of the corridor on state economies and a Future Freight Flows Scenario Planning workshop in Vancouver USA to examine impacts on the corridor under various alternative futures.  Phase 1 of the project concluded in January 2015, and the coalition retained the consultant team for Phase 2 which began in August 2015.
