Chilled Water (Glycol) System for Cooling Die Cast Machines

The project included the installation of a chilled water (glycol) system for cooling die cast machines at AmesburyTruth Manufacturing Facility located in Owatonna, MN. The new chilled water system utilizes a combination of mechanical chillers and an air-cooled fluid cooler. An innovative piping, valving, and control sequence design maximizes the “free” cooling when the ambient temperatures allow. The new system reduced the AmesburyTruth water and sewer usage by approximately 62 million gallons in the year 2021.
