Quetica provides senior instructors to the National Highway Institute for four freight planning workshops / courses offered to State Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) nationwide. In addition to being a senior instructor for these courses, Mark Berndt, a senior consultant with Quetica, developed the curriculum and materials for courses 139004 and 139009:
- Engaging the Private Sector in Freight Planning: Provides techniques and strategies to help practitioners establish and strengthen relationships with the private sector. It is designed for practitioners addressing freight issues at MPOs, State DOTs, local governments and economic development agencies. (NHI Course # 139009)
- Freight and Land Use Workshop: A one-day workshop providing an understanding of the land use needs of freight-generating facilities. (NHI Course # 139008)
- Advanced Freight Planning: A two-day course that expands on freight topics covered in other FHWA freight planning courses to provide techniques and strategies for those individuals involved in transportation planning, programming and allocation of resources. (NHI Course # 139003)
- Principles of Effective Commercial Motor Vehicle Size and Weight Enforcement: A two-day course to provide advanced, in-depth, understanding of federal truck size and weight regulations and the importance of weight enforcement. (NHI Course # 139004)
