The National Guard Readiness Center is located outside the city center and supports training and administrative, including a large assembly hall, office space, weapons storage vault and logistical requirements for the assigned Army National Guard units.
The new readiness facility replaces the century-old, fortress-like New Ulm Armory and brings more classrooms and a larger drill floor to make training more accessible to soldiers and creates more alternative community space in New Ulm. The new 40,350 square foot readiness center means bringing in three times as many soldiers for weekend training drills.
The structural system includes precast concrete walls, beams, columns and double tees. The entrance/lobby of the building is structural steel framing supported on conventional foundations. Quetica provided structural engineering design services.
Location: New Ulm, Minnesota
