The primary objectives of this project include developing and implementing supply chain network planning and optimization strategies to address transportation constraints within the Saint Paul ports, create competitive logistic solutions, improve operational efficiency, identify new revenue opportunities and to prepare a business case and implementation strategy for developing a strategic improvement project as an outcome to the approach described below.
Quetica is using a quantitative and data-driven approach to evaluate the Saint Paul Port Authority’s multimodal port network. The demand-based approach starts with current and forecasted demand for companies’ products, and works its way back to identify cost, capacity and service level in the company’s supply chain network, including suppliers, plants, warehouse/ distribution centers and its transportation network. Constraints (bottlenecks) in the network are then analyzed and optimization strategies are created to address those constraints.
