Texas Statewide Freight Planning On-Call
Quetica has been a subconsultant on the Texas Statewide Freight On-Call contract for nearly a decade and has supported a wide variety of data analytics related to supply chains, economic impacts and truck parking. Key task orders under this on-call effort include:
- Freight Fluidity and Supply Chain Analysis. A private sector shipment database was developed that includes more than 18 million shipment records between 2018 and 2024. It has been used to create time series analysis related to Texas shipments and costs; estimate transportation spend at the county, road corridor, and road segment level; estimate the economic impact from freight activities; create a freight mobility index for the Texas Triangle, and analyze the impacts from extreme weather events including winter storms and droughts.
- I-10 Truck Parking Optimization Model. As an element of the Texas Statewide Truck Parking Study, this innovative model used ATRI truck GPS data for Texas and several surrounding states, along with an inventory of public and private truck parking facilities, business establishment data, and county parcel data to identify and classify truck stops (e.g., overnight vs. break, legal vs. illegal). The effort also estimated truck parking supply/demand ratios at specific locations along I-10 in Texas. The data driven modeling closely matched parking needs identified by truck drivers along I-10.
- Texas Freight Academy. Quetica was asked to develop the curricula for its Texas Freight Academy training courses that will be offered by TxDOT to district and MPO planners.
