MnDOT awards $1.8 million to Saint Paul Port Authority
The Saint Paul Port Authority project at Southport Terminal received a grant through the state’s Port Development Assistance Program to install a rail spur extension, rehab a connecting rail spur and pave a reinforced loading/unloading pad.
The Saint Paul Port Authority owns and manages four barge terminals in Saint Paul along the Mississippi river, providing a critical regional link in a much larger, intermodal freight transportation system. Currently, these terminals handle nearly 5.5 million tons of commodities each year.
Recently, the Saint Paul Port Authority contracted with Quetica to develop a supply chain network optimization model to improve the port’s competitiveness and profitability.
